About Melany

After 22 years as an environmental policy professional, Melany retired to pursue a combination of two of her greatest loves: plants and food.

An avid forager for well over 40 years, she now enjoys teaching urban foraging workshops to a wide variety of audiences. She and her husband tend a small goat and chicken farm in Olympia, Washington where they forage and produce much of their own food.

Melany holds a degree in environmental studies with an emphasis in ethnobotany from the Evergreen State College. She also has a permaculture design certificate from Oregon State University.
